Who we are

The NSF Industry–University Cooperative Research Center (IUCRC) Digital Twin Research, Innovation & Collaboration Hub (DT-RICH) is a multi-institutional planning center supported by the National Science Foundation. DT-RICH brings together government, industry, and university partners to accelerate the translation of Digital Twin technologies from academic research into practical, actionable solutions that address society’s most pressing challenges.

Led by faculty experts from Virginia Tech, George Mason University, and Harvard University, the Hub connects industry-defined needs with interdisciplinary research capabilities. While focus on research to advance DT capabilities of understand what’s now, predict what’s next, and identify optional solutions via what if analyses, the center research spans across geospatial analytics, AI and physics-based modeling, public health, medicine, engineering, construction, space systems, and computer science. Through collaborative, use-inspired research, DT-RICH provides high-value prototypes, models, datasets, and decision-support tools that move innovations toward commercial and operational implementation.
