School districts operate mixed-size bus fleets, yet current routing tools lack a standardized way to evaluate street-level compatibility by vehicle type. This creates operational risk when long-wheelbase buses encounter narrow corridors, restricted turns, steep grades, or low-clearance obstacles. We propose a Multi-Tiered Bus Suitability Map that integrates OpenStreetMap data with client-reported hazards to classify roads by vehicle class. The system will evaluate geometric thresholds, vertical and surface constraints, grade limits, and automated turn-radius feasibility, including directional routing logic and dead-end prevention. The outcome is an industry-ready decision-support tool that improves safety, reduces fleet damage risk, and enables more reliable, vehicle-specific routing for school transportation operations.
