Natural hazards, conflict, space incidents, and public health crises have claimed thousands of lives and caused hundreds of billions of dollars in asset losses. Reducing these losses requires a clear understanding of what is happening now, what will happen next, and what actions will lead to the best outcomes. Leveraging advances in digital transformation to tackle use-inspired problems, DT-RICH IUCRC will serve as a transformative research and innovation hub to tackle these three “what” challenges over the next 5–10 years. This presentation outlines our vision, engagement model for members, students, and faculty, and a concrete plan to realize our mission: enabling productive and healthy life on Earth through digital replicas, predictive intelligence, and solution optimization to address critical scientific, engineering, and societal challenges in the geospatial domain.
